Farewell to Namibia and our luxurious grassy campsite this morning. We have a long day in the bus today but only a short drive to the border crossing onto South Africa.
Charles was concerned about the vehicle inspection today. He said the guards at this crossing could be real hard asses and have confiscated meat and beer in the past. Turned out it was a very smooth process. For the final step, two guards got on the bus with us to double check ID against forms. The one lady was very jolly and asking how we were feeling after cycling all the way from Victoria Falls!! The young guy gave his phone to Charles so Charles could video him with the crazy cyclists. In the end they only checked two passports and sent us on our way, beer intact much to the relief of the Germans. We were probably the highlight of their day, the guards, not the germans…
The day passed by with green scrub popping up on rocky hills which morphed into mountains - rocky ones. Then more vineyards appeared (table grapes,) along with tomatoes and fruit trees.

We followed a valley with a river and an irrigation aqueduct into the Cederberg Wilderness Area where we had a road works hold up. The next hour i spent eyes closed or looking through fingers as the road was narrow and the drop precipitous. The camp in our itinerary disappeared in a landslide last spring so we had another hour to the replacement campsite at Kromrivier Campsite. As always, views!
Lovely chicken curry and roti for dinner. This now feels like camping as there are flies!!
