Ghanzi to Windhoek

This is my view today for the next 8 hours:

We have an 8 hour road transfer to the Namibian capital of Windhoek this morning where we get to sleep in beds for one night. Before we set out this morning we had a fascinating walkabout with some San people (think the bushmen in The Gods Must be Crazy.) Our San guide Robert and a group representing 2 different San people, gave some demonstrations of hunting and fire building as well as an intro to some of their medicinal plants. The fire making was impressive - they were so fast.

Spotted this rickshaw at the Namibia border crossing - and I thought we were nuts!

The landscape is a bit greener here with mountains appearing in the distance. Sand is turning red. The traffic is faster & heavier and the roads more  narrow. Botswana highways had an 18 inch paved shoulder. Here, nada. Botswana drivers were very careful and pulled over when passing. Namibia is still to be tested. Glad we aren’t cycling this bit - the rest of Namibia will be on gravel.

The guest house is heavenly! Did laundry in a machine, dried out the rest of my gear, had a shower and a night out for dinner at a local watering hole. Ate meat, lots of meat and cake thanks to guide Charles whose birthday was yesterday. My fingernails are clean. Life is good!
