The grass was wonderfully soft. It must cost a fortune to maintain. It looks like they laid sod on top of 3-4 inches of top soil right on top of the sand. They do have a windmill and well but i suspect most water is trucked in and pumped up into the water tower…they even have an automatic spray system on the thatch roofs to keep it cool and less combustible.
Our breakfasts are just typically cereal/granola and yogurt - glad I brought protein shake packets with me.

I opted for legs 1+3+4 - was going to skip 4 and do 5 but Sandila gave me a look and told me to do 4. He was right - it was the best gravel leg so far. The 1st stretch was a trial with too much sand, 3 was okay but 4 had a tailwind and a long slow drop so was quite fun. Mountains have turned to hills and the sand is sparser. Although, tonight we are in a fancy desert camp with sand views. We have 3 camping spots each with an open air toilet/shower/sink area. I wanted to walk out into the desert tonight to take some star pics but apparently there are baboon vipers.
Saw a view oryx in the distance today. Not much movement at 42C. Just sitting around this afternoon enjoying cold drinks and the view at the restaurant a kilometre from our camp.

amazing photos hon! trip sounds fantastic! hugs!
ReplyDeleteJust reading your riding schedule tires me! Baboon vipers!? What’s a viper? I’m sure I don’t want to meet one.
